Travels and Ramblings

With some convincing from my daughter and the growth of my travelogue website I have decided to open this blog for direct access and comment. You will find everything here from my travels to my opinions, excerpts, and links to others. Anything is fair game from politics to economics.

About Me

My photo
Ricochet Smith
I grew up in Minn and moved to Calif at 19 got drafted as an Army medic for Viet Nam service. I returned to Calif and spent 14 years as a radar systems engineer. After the fall of the 'evil empire' the defense industry, and my divorce, I started a construction inspection firm. I spent 12 years as a liveaboard on a classic Chris-Craft and operate gold mining claims east of Big Bear, CA. I have since given control of the mining operations to my son and my daughter is president of Atlas Resources with me as consulting principal. I have retired to St. Lucia but return for family visits and business interests. My son and his family live near the old Earp ranch in San Timeteo Canyon. My daughter and her family live north of Baltimore in Pennsylvania so I am a bi-coastal grandparent.
